I'm a journalist and essayist.
I'm a science reporter at The Verge, previously a staff reporter at The Wall Street Journal. I'm interested in everything from crystallography to synthetic biology, but have an especial focus on materials, biotechnology, and AI.
I write the DATA column each month over at Catapult. My reporting and criticism have also appeared in The Atlantic, The Guardian, Aeon Magazine, Paris Review Daily, Chronicle of Higher Education, Smithsonian, Pacific Standard, Hazlitt, Electric Literature, and more. On the side, I'm a contributing editor at The Morning News and have also worked for Guernica Magazine and The New Inquiry.
My first book, ACE: Understanding Asexuality and Culture, is forthcoming from Beacon Press. It combines reporting, criticism, and memoir to explore how asexuality affects everyone and critique modern feminism's obsession with sexuality.
